Liberia: Rebuilding a School Ravaged by War
Mercer spent time in Liberia working at the Ricks Institute, student-teachers from the Tift College of Education, three faculty members and four mentor teachers delivered supplies and worked with the school to continue to rebuild from a civil war. The institute is head by Mercer graduate, Dr. Olu Menjay (CLA ’95). The Mercer team spent a month involved in the daily work of Ricks Institute. Each Mercer student was assigned to a grade level class at Ricks and worked side-by-side with the regular Ricks teachers.
