TRAVEL DATES:
July 21 – August 10, 2026
GENERAL INFO:
The Mercer On Mission program in India is focused on providing health care and health education to underserved populations. The program began in 2018. Join us on a three-week journey of discovery and service. Experience the richness of India’s culture, connect with incredible people, and make a lasting difference through compassionate care.

Meeting a Need

India is a populous country. While there have been advancements in education, technology and health care, many do not enjoy the rewards of this advancement. Forty percent of the population live in poverty. Many children are put to work and unable to obtain an education. Health care accessibility for the poor is limited, and human trafficking also is an issue.

What You'll Do

During the Mercer On Mission program in India, students will:

  • Provide health screenings and treat acute and chronic illness in underserved communities in inner-city slums and rural villages
  • Work with an interprofessional team
  • Provide women’s health education in these communities
  • Provide hygiene packets
  • Educate children on general hygiene
  • Experience a vibrant and unique culture

This program is in partnership with Narayana Hospital.

My most meaningful moment was with a patient who had waited hours to be seen. I apologized for the delay, expecting irritation, but instead she smiled and said she was just grateful we were here. That one interaction reminded me exactly why I’m here. I came to serve, to contribute, but I am also here to listen and learn. Being present, offering care even in small ways, carries more weight than I expected.
