India is a populous country. While there have been advancements in education, technology and health care, many do not enjoy the rewards of this advancement. Forty percent of the population live in poverty. Many children are put to work and unable to obtain an education. Health care accessibility for the poor is limited, and human trafficking also is an issue.

My most meaningful moment was with a patient who had waited hours to be seen. I apologized for the delay, expecting irritation, but instead she smiled and said she was just grateful we were here. That one interaction reminded me exactly why I’m here. I came to serve, to contribute, but I am also here to listen and learn. Being present, offering care even in small ways, carries more weight than I expected.
Students are required to sign up for six hours of credit. The registrar will enroll you in courses for your program, including one class from each of the program's faculty.
